London braced for tougher restrictions as weekly Covid cases hit 7,700
Further restrictions for London may be announced within days as the number of Covid-19 cases in the city hit more than 7,700 a week. The capital is understood to be in a crucial week with the looming threat of a city-wide new clampdown to stop the epidemic spreading. This could see a ban on social mixing between households in homes, or it being limited to two households. Community leaders are even discussing travel being limited to “only essential” trips at some point.
